BOUDOIR PHOTO SHOOT – EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW
Boudoir sessions are all about seeing yourself in a whole new light. Embarking on a boudoir photo session is a journey of self-celebration, empowerment, and capturing your unique beauty in a tasteful and intimate setting. Whether you're doing it as a gift for a partner or as a personal confidence boost, here are some steps to help you prepare for this exciting experience:
Choose the Right Photographer:
Select a photographer who specializes in boudoir photography and whose portfolio aligns with your vision. Look for someone you feel comfortable with and can trust to create a safe and respectful environment during the shoot.
Plan Ahead:
Start planning your session well in advance. Consider the date, location, and any specific themes or styles you'd like to explore. Communicate your ideas and expectations with your photographer to ensure they understand your vision.
Wardrobe Selection:
Think about the outfits (3-5) and lingerie you'd like to wear. Consider what makes you feel confident and beautiful. Bring a variety of options, including different styles, colours, and accessories. Don't forget to include any sentimental items or outfits that hold personal significance.
Body Confidence:
Remember that every body is unique and beautiful. Embrace your body as it is and don't dwell on perceived flaws. Your photographer is skilled at highlighting your best features through posing and lighting. Confidence in yourself is the key to stunning photos.
Professional Hair and Makeup:
Consider having your hair and makeup professionally done for the session. This can enhance your confidence and create a polished look. Discuss your preferences and style with the makeup artist and hairstylist to achieve the desired result.
Hydration and Rest:
In the days leading up to the shoot, prioritize self-care. Stay hydrated, get enough rest, and avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning that could cause uneven skin tones.
Posing Practice:
If you're nervous about posing, practice in front of a mirror to get comfortable with different angles and expressions. Your photographer will also guide you throughout the session, so no prior modelling experience is necessary.
Bring Props and Personal Touches:
Incorporate props or personal items that have significance to you. This could include jewellery, a favourite book, or anything that makes you feel more connected to the shoot.
Relaxation Techniques:
On the day of the session, employ relaxation techniques such as deep breathing or meditation to ease any nervousness. Trust your photographer to create a supportive and respectful environment.
Enjoy the Experience!
Most importantly, embrace the experience and have fun! Boudoir photography is about feeling empowered, confident, and celebrating your unique beauty. Allow yourself to let go of inhibitions and enjoy the process.
After the session, you'll have a collection of intimate and stunning photos that showcase your beauty and confidence. Whether you choose to keep them private or share them, boudoir photography can be a transformative experience that reminds you of your innate beauty and strength..
How to choose the perfect wardrobe for your boudoir session?

RULE NUMBER ONE FOR YOUR BOUDOIR WARDROBE IS:
Don't bring outfits you don't love! Many women show up in outfits that say, "I really don't like how I look in this, but I'll bring it with me." If you don't like a particular outfit or lingerie, leave it at home!
LINGERIE IS NOT A NECESSITY IN BOUDOIR, BUT:
Don't be afraid to be creative. In a boudoir session, garter belts and thigh-high stockings can be paired with oversized sweater or a graphic t-shirt. A beautiful bra can be matched with a long, flowing tulle skirt. Your favourite tank top can be worn without pants, just high-cut panties or high-waisted ones. You can use a bedsheet or sheer fabric for any of these looks. Your favourite 20-something's t-shirt, combined with sassy pants, can do the job perfectly!
WHEN IT COMES TO TIGHTS/STOCKINGS, BUY THEM 1-2 SIZES LARGER THAN THE SIZE CHART ON THE BACK SUGGESTS:
Buying them in the size that supposedly "fits" according to the size chart will likely cause the stockings to roll down on your thighs to avoid slipping down.
AVOID STRONG PATTERNS AND NEON COLORS:
They often look harsh in the camera and aren't very flattering, so try to steer clear of them.
TRY INCORPORATING DIFFERENT ELEMENTS INTO YOUR WARDROBE CHOICES FOR THE SESSION:
Having five different sets of lingerie and panties won't provide much variety in the photos. Instead, choose something: formal, casual, textural, playful, more modest, and dramatic.
IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE COMPLICATED; I ENCOURAGE SIMPLICITY!
I love working with pretty scarves, bedsheets, very loose and flowing shirts, jackets, furs, and coats, or anything you LOVE.
BEAUTIFUL AND WELL-KEPT
Make sure the wardrobe items you choose are NOT wrinkled and remove ALL price and sizing tags from your lingerie. Even the permanent ones.
If you need tips for choosing lingerie/outfits that will work best for your session, use these questions to narrow down the types of clothing you should look for:
1. What is your favourite part of your body?
BREASTS – Push-up bras, corsets and nightgowns will emphasize your breasts.
WAIST – Bra and panty sets or a short top with panties will highlight your abdominal muscles.
LEGS – High-cut bikinis, thongs, strings, and bodysuits will elongate your legs, accentuating your hips. Pair them with nude-coloured high heels to further lengthen your legs.
BUTTOCKS – Thongs, thongs, and more thongs, unless you prefer wearing a thong all day!
2. Which parts of your body do you dislike or want to hide?
ARMS – If you're concerned about your arms, choose a short top with long sleeves or a bodysuit.
ABDOMEN – A corset will firm up your waist, give you an hourglass figure, and cover any surgical scars or stretch marks.
THIGHS – Opt for a lace nightgown that falls just above the knee, which can be draped around your thighs when wearing lingerie. Adding heels will elongate your legs and, in turn, slim your thighs when standing.
WHAT PHOTOS WILL WE BE TAKING DURING THE SESSION?
DETAILED SHOTS
Showcasing beautiful body parts that adorn the female form: Collarbones, arms, breasts, spines, buttocks.
CLASSIC BOUDOIR STYLE
Most boudoir-style photos are taken nude, in bedsheets, or in beautiful lingerie, with closed eyes or a turned face. These photos show only enough to leave room for imagination...
PORTRAIT PHOTOS
In lingerie or without, these images encompass your face and a part of your body.
SILHOUETTE IN CONTRASTING LIGHT
High-contrast images are breath taking. The most silhouette-oriented shots like these look best in undressed editions... very sheer blouses and slips leave enough to the imagination.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST: TRUST ME.
I WON'T DO ANYTHING THAT WOULD MAKE YOU LOOK BAD.
I KNOW HOW TO MAKE A WOMAN LOOK SENSATIONAL. I KNOW IT'S EXCITING AND NERVE WRECKING AT THE SAME TIME, BUT I WILL POSE YOU AND GUIDE YOU THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE SESSION.
SO DON'T STRESS YOURSELF, GET A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP, AND DRINK PLENTY OF WATER 24 HOURS BEFORE OUR SESSION. I GOT YOU, I PROMISE...
